Holistic Healthcare for Women

a lifetime of procreative wellness

FAQs

Can I work with you if I’m using a different system of NFP or Fertility Awareness Methods?

Yes! Naturopathic medicine is for all people. With this form of healthcare, we look for underlying causes of symptoms and have many ways to support hormones, digestion, thyroid, adrenals, etc. However, the Creighton Model medical protocols can only be used in conjunction with a Creighton Model chart.

Can I be your naturopathic patient and Creighton Model Client?

Absolutely. If you start with me to learn the Creighton Model charting, I recommend scheduling an appointment for medical care separately from your Creighton Model Follow-up. I typically use both Creighton medical protocols as well as naturopathic modalities when working with client. At least two months of charting are required prior to initiating NaPro protocols.

What is NaPro medical treatment?

Natural Procreative Technology (NaPro) is a women’s health science that works cooperatively with the procreative cycle. It has both medical and surgical applications. It provides continuity of care for women from pre-conception, pregnancy, birth, and post-partum.

Why do I need to chart with Creighton Model to receive NaPro medical treatment?

The targeted hormone evaluations (lab tests/blood draws) are based on your unique cycle. If you require bio-identical progesterone or other cooperative medical treatment, it is important to time it with your cycle. The Creighton Model provides the most accurate way of tracking where you are in your cycle. The Creighton Model chart is the foundation of NaPro Technology.

What do I learn during the Creighton Model FertilityCare™ Introductory Session?

This one-hour long introductory session provides a great opportunity to decide if this is a program you would like to pursue. The session includes an anatomy/physiology review, research and science behind the Creighton Model, beginning information on making observations and charting, as well as applications to family planning and reproductive health issues. The actual teaching of the system occurs at individualized follow-up sessions.

How many follow-up sessions does it take to learn the Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System?

There are generally eight individualized follow-up sessions spaced throughout the first year of learning. The first four are each two weeks apart. The fifth one is a month later. The remaining three are each three months apart. Long-term, follow-ups are once every six months.

Should I continue charting the rest of my reproductive life?

Yes! The Creighton Model chart is an excellent health record. It allows for proper dating of pregnancies and for identification of many forms of gynecologic and reproductive health problems. It provides objective data for a Creighton trained doctor and allows for superior healthcare evaluation and treatment.

For couples, continued charting adds confidence to the use of Creighton Model for both spouses. The chart allows the husband an opportunity for participating in the decision making process and aids the couple in mutually carrying out their decision making. Charting should be considered a routine, easy task. It is a minor contribution for the ongoing successful use of this system.

Why should I continue with Creighton Model Follow-ups after the first year of learning?

After the first year of charting, clients typically return for follow-up once every six months. It is helpful to have a periodic review of the charting, observations, and instructions so that the client/couple does not become complacent in its use. The FertilityCare™teacher is an important source of support and encouragement necessary to ongoing use of the system. Long-term follow-up is an excellent form of updating. Only in this way can the latest information on developments of the Creighton Model FertilityCare System be provided to clients. Changes in reproductive category (example: becoming pregnant, breastfeeding, perimenopause, etc) require continued teacher input. Clients often develop questions as they continue in the use of the system. Follow-ups allow the client/couple to find answers.

Can I contact my FertilityCare Practitioner at other times?

Yes! You can contact your FertilityCare teacher when:

You need to purchase a new chart or stamps.

  • You become pregnant. Pregnancy evaluations are the best means of dating the pregnancy and provide critical information for continued quality control of the system.
  • You have a change in intention of use of the system (to avoid or achieve pregnancy).
  • If you are looking for a referral for medical, spiritual, emotional counseling or support.
  • If you would like a speaker at an event.

Do you offer virtual visits?

Yes. While in-person visits are encouraged for learning the Creighton Model, as it is very interactive, I do offer virtual visits to make these services accessible to a wider geographic region.

Is there an app for charting?

There is an app available only through certified FertililtyCare™ teachers. This is an interactive program that ensures protected health information. After paper charting for five follow-ups, clients can choose if they’d like to try the app.

For Naturopathic Appointments:

Do you take my insurance? How does payment work?

I am an out-of-network provider, which means I take payment at time of service.

While most of my patients do have insurance, they choose to see me as an out-of-network, private pay provider for the higher quality, more individualized care they receive. Since I don’t submit to insurance on behalf of my patients, I am able to spend more quality “one on one” time with them, as well as provide individualized treatment plans.

I can provide a self-claim form to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement according to your plan.

How long can I expect for each appointment?

New client appointments are generally 1.5-2 hours. Follow-up appointments are 60 minutes.

How long until I see results?

This is very individualized. I work with each client to determine a follow-up schedule that works best for our unique treatment strategy.
